Behind the Scenes: How We Build a World-Class Event

It starts a year out
Planning for each Hugecon begins almost as soon as the last one ends. We read every feedback survey, list what worked and what didn’t, and set a small number of goals for the next edition. This year, the biggest request was more time to talk between sessions, so we built the schedule around it.
Building the program
Speakers are chosen for what they can teach, not just for their profile. We look for people who have done the work they describe and who are willing to share the hard parts. Every talk is reviewed in advance so that sessions fit together and don’t repeat each other.
The details attendees never see
A great event depends on hundreds of small decisions. A few of the things our team works through:
- Room layouts, sight lines and sound checks for every stage
- Accessible routes, seating and captioning for sessions
- Catering that works for a range of dietary needs
- Clear signage so nobody spends a break looking for the right room
The people who make it happen
On the days of the event, a large team of staff, volunteers and production crew keeps things running. Many of them start before sunrise and finish long after the last session. If you see someone in a Hugecon shirt, feel free to say thanks; it means a lot.
See it for yourself
All of that work exists for one reason: to give you two days of ideas, conversations and connections that are worth your time. We look forward to welcoming you in November.
